Hi there, Every year, our team immerses itself in the world of large appliances. But for me, it’s a passion—a weird, nerdy passion. After more than a decade of testing them, visiting factories around the world that make them, and talking shop with the engineers that designed them, I still get a kick out of appliances. Lucky for you, we’ve channeled all this enthusiasm into our Large Appliance Best of Year list, which is filled with some fantastic recommendations for a variety of budgets and needs. Here are some highlights: Refrigerators. I keep coming back to this GE Profile fridge that may have finally cracked the problem of simply and accurately keeping an inventory of what’s in the fridge. A barcode scanner built into the door and a camera pointed at the produce drawer scan what’s coming in and out, and add items to your shopping list. Is it perfect? Probably not. But we love that they’re innovating while also respecting consumer privacy, because you can see what GE left out. Ranges. Camera-equipped ovens are not new, but they’re getting closer to genuinely useful. And if anyone can make it work, it’s probably LG. The company has a great track record of making tech-forward appliances that solve problems (rather than create new ones!). The LG Signature induction oven range with “Gourmet AI” is halfway to being your own personal sous chef. If induction isn't your thing, the Samsung Bespoke electric range—which also made our Best Electric Ranges list—lets you run the whole thing from your phone. Dishwashers. You know a dishwasher is doing its job right when you forget it's running, and that's exactly the case with the LG Signature FlushFit. It sits flush with your cabinetry so it disappears visually too. But the noise level might be the biggest selling point:

Washer-dryer combos. We put the Samsung Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo up against a GE Profile All-in-One. GE won on warranty and cycle speed, but Samsung came out with the bigger drum, better energy efficiency, and a smaller footprint. Things worth knowing before you pick a side. Trust is everything with appliances. They’re big, long-term investments that you’d probably like to avoid replacing or repairing anytime soon. Here’s a quick rundown of who we recommend for the big four categories:
